Welcome to the Durham DEN

We are a network of evangelicals in the Church of England Diocese of Durham, working in partnership with the Church of England Evangelical Council (CEEC).

We share a passion for the gospel so that local churches, our diocese and the Church of England as a whole are encouraged in mission, evangelism and growth. We take the Bible as our authority and want to see lives changed by an encounter with Jesus Christ through his Spirit and his saving work on the cross. The network seeks to support and spur one another on in the service of Christ​.

Membership is open to all clergy and laity who live or work in the Diocese, and who affirm the CEEC Basis of Faith (including the Additional Declarations). To join, fill in this online form.

Previous event: Philip Plyming on Giving Thanks

Philip Plyming (Dean of Durham) gave a talk on his recent book, Giving Thanks: Rediscovering the Heart of Gratitude. In an uncertain and threatening world, gratitude can be difficult. Yet the Bible calls us to ‘give thanks in all circumstances’. This is beautifully expressed in the General Thanksgiving from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. How can this prayer help us to face the challenges of today?
